What if the executor or family members knew that the deceased had assets at a financial institution but cannot find evidence of the account amongst the deceased’s papers?

July 11th, 2018

The executor can go to the financial institution with a copy of the Will, death certificate and personal identification and ask the financial institution to search their records for evidence of account(s) in the deceased’s name.

Once probate is received, the financial institution is required by law to disclose any accounts of the deceased.
